Shelburne Town Center

March Project Update

LibraryMarch2019

As the weather warms up, so does the action on the construction site! As
the interior is framed out, the trades (electrical, plumbing, HVAC)
follow behind, laying in the new infrastructure. On Tuesday, 40
sub-contractors were busy on site, keeping us on schedule for a summer
opening.

An important component of a modern library is its support of local
businesses, tele-commuters and entrepreneurs. Shelburne has many
taxpayers who use the library as a space to work, to gather, to use
technology perhaps not available to them otherwise (high speed internet,
specialized databases, printing, xeroxing), to network, and in some
cases, just to get out of the house and away from the cat! The old
library space was inadequate to meet these needs.

The new Pierson Library will have a dedicated Business Center for local
tele-workers and entrepreneurs containing hardware and associated
technology, free high-speed internet, staff expertise, and mentoring.
Other spaces in the library will be available for quiet projects,
incubator meetings and networking opportunities, including chance
meetings at the coffee machine or events organized by the library.

The library is excited to be able to expand their offerings to the local
business and technology community in the new space! In addition, our
focus on these services is an important component of Shelburne's
participation in statewide efforts to support and grow our local economies.

Thank you for your support of this Municipal project and please remember
