2011 - Trustees see need for new library

A town-trustee committee is established and investigates opportunities, including renovating current space, tearing down and rebuilding, or building on another site.

 

2016 - Three plans are whittled to one

The plan, created by Vermont Integrated Architecture, includes much-needed renovations for the 1927 Town Hall and safety improvements for the municipal campus.

 

November 2017 - Bond Vote Passes

In a 55% - 45% vote, residents of Shelburne approve up to $6.5 million toward the project.  An anonymous donor offers a $500,000 matching challenge toward lowering the bond as an incentive for others to give.

 

June 2018 - Library Moves into Temporary Space

Toward the end of June, Pierson Library moves to the south end of the Shelburne Field House, expecting to occupy the space for a year as the construction commences at the municipal campus.

 

September 2018 - New Library Groundbreaking

Demolition is completed and groundbreaking begins!

 

May 2019 - Substantial Completion

Work on the municipal campus, town hall and library should be substantially complete by this time.

 

Summer 2019 - Grand Re-Opening!

The books are back and so are the library patrons!  With new community spaces, study and computer areas, a spacious youth section, and more!
